Honey should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, and in a tightly sealed container. Avoid refrigeration, as it can cause honey to crystallize more quickly.
Why does honey crystallize, and is it still safe to eat?
Crystallization is a natural process where the glucose in honey forms crystals. It doesn’t affect the quality or safety of the honey. To re-liquefy it, gently warm the jar in a bowl of warm water.
What is the difference between raw honey and processed honey?
Raw honey is unfiltered and unpasteurized, preserving natural enzymes, antioxidants, and pollen. Processed honey is often heated and filtered, which can reduce its nutritional benefits and alter its taste. We only offer raw honey at McKnight Bee Products.
Do you use sustainable beekeeping practices?
Absolutely! We prioritize the health of our bees and the environment by avoiding harmful chemicals, maintaining diverse forage areas, and supporting natural bee behaviors.
Are your products cruelty-free?
Yes, all our honey and beeswax products are ethically sourced without harming bees. We ensure sustainable and humane beekeeping practices.
Do you offer honey in bulk for events or businesses?
Yes, we provide bulk honey options for weddings, parties, and business needs. Contact us for details on pricing and packaging.
Do you sell raw comb honey?
We will offer raw comb honey starting in 2025 for those who want to enjoy honey in its most natural form, straight from the hive.
How can I tell if honey is pure?
Pure honey is thick, sticky, and naturally sweet. You can test purity by placing a drop on your thumb; pure honey doesn’t spread quickly. It’s also worth noting that pure honey crystallizes over time.
Do you ship your products?
Currently, we offer shipping, pickup, and local delivery. We have a pick up box for contactless pickup and off an in-person handoff if preferred.
Can I return or exchange your products?
Due to the nature of our products, we typically do not accept returns. However, if there’s an issue with your order, please reach out, and we’ll do our best to assist you.
Can I return the glass jars?
You can return the glass jar, and we can provide a discount code for your next order.
Are your products suitable for vegans?
Our products are not considered vegan since they are derived from bees, but they are sustainable and ethically sourced.
What flowers do your bees forage on?
There is a variety of trees and flowers in the area. We have a patch of lavender that grows next to some of our hives that the bees love. We often see them around our roses, citrus trees, and dogwood and cherry blossom trees in the summer.
Where are your hives located?
Our hives are located at the border of Richmond Heights and Ladue, MO. The bees forage in a 2 mile radius.
